What is 404 Not Found Error ?

Hello guys,

Today we are going to start discussion about, "404 Error".

Before going to this topic, i would like to give small introduction about the same.

Firstly, this is not technical coding error, this is just client side error which gives error like this.

Not Found

At some point, in your programming career, you will came across the error like "404 Error".

well this is just in general error message, which simple means that, 

“Page Not Found.”

Now But What is "Page Not Found" ?

Whenever you are browsing some content or any web page but actually it's not uploaded on web server, or that particular file does not exist. then you will get this kind of error message.

In technical words you can says it's client side error or it's status code which represents that the page which you are try to accessing is not found on server.

"404 Error is the standard response code which represents the file or page which you are looking for is damaged or not found on web server or misplaced."

This is most common HTTP error in your day to day life...

But not every time, it's error like this

Some time the causes of this error, is somewhat different like

1. May be by mistake you had typed URL incorrectly like

suppose you want to enter google.com, but by mistakenly you had entered googld.com

then of course, it's complete different interpretation for specific page or website.

2. There may be some cache issue is there in your web browser, i.e whenever you are searching any particular site then, our web browser store some temporary data

into their memory, and this is volatile (this is nothing but your browser cookies, history, cache etc), but again you are revising the same site then some times

it gives error, or it may not reflected any updated content from website, Then you delete your all browser history, cache etc OR you may simply,  press CLT + F5 (to clear all session request).

3. May be you had changed DNS (name server) for particular website, and then usually that "404 Error" came. that means if you just uploaded new fresh website and then you had changes DNS Server, then it takes some time to propagate all your server  setting to point out to your domain. usually it takes 24-48 hrs. after that particular period your site get visible to all.

4. If you don's any access to to your server hosting the you can contact to your Hosting Administrator regarding this issue, or you can raise the ticket for particular problem to their technical support team.

5. Finally, if you are still finding the solution for "404 NOT FOUND", then obviously you can directly Google it,

Of course, Google is the solution for all problems.

You will get better solution out of it to resolve your issue.

A 404 not found error can be displayed in many different ways.

2. The requested URL was not found on this server

7. HTTP 404 Not Found

Suggestion:

Also you can redirect your website 404 error to the custom newly page which is designed by you.

(Note: When Windows Update produces a 404 error, it appears as a code 0x80244019 or as the message WU_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_NOT_FOUND.)
